Ottawa’s Nick Gamache serves as a Senior Advisor of Media Relations and Issues Management at Elections Canada, where he provides strategic guidance for media and communications initiatives to senior directors and the CEO. As part of his role at Elections Canada, he also works to identify internal and external issues with communications strategies and deliver communications under tight deadlines and oftentimes in breaking news situations. Having spent more than a decade as a member of the Canadian media in digital print, radio and television broadcasting, Gamache has a wealth of experience in media and specific expertise in political and policy issues. Gamache gained the bulk of his experience through his career with CBC/Radio Canada, which began in Quebec in 2002. At CBC, he served as a reporter and producer before eventually moving to Ottawa, where he acted in varying capacities in radio and television broadcasting, as well as writing and editing for CBC’s online platform. Later, Gamache played an instrumental role in planning and executing CBC’s 2015 Federal Election coverage. Between regular appearances on CBC and offering insight on discussion panels for the election coverage, Gamache oversaw the creation of new digital-first infographics and a podcast focused on understanding political polls. His work with CBC also included serving as a senior producer for CBC’s political political program, The House. In 2019, in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nick contributed to the delivery of the federal election under unprecedented circumstances. Nick Gamache earned a bachelor of arts in journalism from Concordia University in 2003 and is fluently bilingual. He has advanced training in strategic communications, speech writing, sound editing, broadcast writing, web writing and editing as well as on-air performance. While not working, he enjoys reading, sports, history, politics and writing fiction.
